Do I paranoid or do I think myself? I feel people on yahooanswer don't like asian & black? I mean, every questions people who speak for black and asian get thumb down? I wonder why is that? I think they are good people. and the person who say bad to other people get a lot of thumb up. and also for indian and arab. I don't know why so many people like them? I been lived in south east asia and alot of them working there as a worker. its very well-known about their strange behavior for example, don't pay money when they take on the bus or don't do what they are promiss to fo etc. also, we don't have to mention, how dirty it is on the plane kuweit airline or air india - many people not even want to take those airline. really, I don't want to say bad to them. I'm not asian or black, but as I been stayed among people of different nationality and ethnicity's. I know they are good people. for example, here in holland, asian never go to get free money from social service. most of people go there are arab and indian. they also have a lot of guys to get more money. | | i think its just asians being hated on, not so much black people, they just get thumbs down for saying stuff like once u go black u never go back and stuff like that :l. and nooo yur not paranoid | ASIAN HAIRSTYLES FOR 13 YEAR ASIAN BOY? an emo cut.

One more thing.
Sometimes. When my hair dries, the sides tend to poof out. Any suggestions on how to prevent this?? Thaaaanks.
ooooh. feel free to send links to hairstyles.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. | If you want a cut like that you'll have to grow out your hair. Your hair is too short now. a Faux Hawk would be good in the mean time. You can go to your hairdresser and ask about one and also tell her you'd like to grow your hair out to eventually get it cut like the pictures you showed. In fact, bring the pictures to the hair dresser. She'll cut it so you can style it that way, but mostly a faux hawk is done with gel, hairspray, wax or some other texturizing product. Faux Hawks are good because if you need to go to some formal event and your mom doesn't like it you can just comb it so it looks neat, instead of punk or emo.
As for the sides poofing out... it could be a couple of things. It could just be the way your hair grows or it could be the texture of you hair, or it could be from a natural wave in your hair. My best suggestions for it are to buy either a leave-in-conditioner (garnier fructise cream leave-in-conditioner works great!) or a frizz cream. Not a serum, but a cream. You only need a tiny dab. The leave-in-conditioner you just put on when your hair is wet. Then you need to comb your hair out while it's drying. The frizz cream (I use John Freida)is used once your hair is dry. Remember that you only need a tiny dot. You could also try a gel.
If all else fails buy a hair straightener (which you'll need for the longer hairstyles anyways.) | What's your opinion on... (Survey)? Gays.

Nobody's eyes really look just like that. | Pursuing a Career in writing a book? 14yr old? This book is going to be about my life, struggle, and thoughts. I've gotten alot of thumbs up from buddies but I wanted to ask the world. This is the prologue I've written:
My name is Phuong Viet Pham. (Too Asian for my personality so I made my nickname Tommy)
Growing up as a Vietnamese and Chinese mixed guy in a area in Southwest Houston where the majority group is Hispanic and African-American, it's hard. I was born 6 weeks premature and I have alot of complications. I have to take a small pill everyday or my body will get itchy, After I shower, I have to apply lotion throughout my body, and I gotta take a shot every month to keep my skin from peeling. I grew up in a poor but modest family. My mother and father moved from Vietnam to America with nothing but $15 in her hand, and $40 in his. And somehow between the last 20-30 years of their life, they've managed to do so much. Mom and Dad bought a new house. 4 bedrooms, a living room, dining room, and full sized kitchen. I've always been the outgoing, loud, and sometimes serious and complex type. You'll usually see me laughing with a couple of close friends whom I've been able to call brothers and I'll look like a not really deep guy. But in my free time, I philosiphize (is that even a word) about subjects like human evolution, God being real or not, life in general, etc. I've been born with a gift. My brain is able to link different things to alot of other things. I'll think of something simple like a steering wheel. I'll take the Y shape inside and link it to something complicated like a pipeline, than I'll take the pipeline and I'll think about the color. And their grey so I think about metal. Metal is everywhere, and etc.
(I'd post more but I wanna keep this short) | Okay, I am going to be a bit mean. Please bear with me here.
The first thing is, I'm guessing this is your first book. The fact that your question is "pursuing a career in writing a book" scares me. A lot of first time writers think that they're going to write a book, sell it immediately, and make oodles of money. This is not the case. If you are serious about getting this published, it will take a lot of time and a lot of revisions. You will be harshly criticized or ignored by publishers and agents. That is kind of hard to deal with at 14, especially if the story is about your life, as it might feel like people are criticising your life. Even if you do manage to get this book published, the likelihood that you will make a lot of money off of it is VERY low. Very, very few writers make enough money to really have writing be their "career". Most work other jobs as well. You need to lower your expectations a bit I think.
Number two is, as I said, I'm guessing this is your first book. It takes a LOT of practice to be a good writer. And since your book is based on your life, you are going to have to be a hella good writer to make this work, or else it will just come off as a 14 year old's journal. So yeah, I would work on some smaller projects before worrying about getting a full length book together. Build up your style.
Next is the content. Okay, so you're writing about the stuff that goes on in your life. But (no offense) it doesn't seem like you have all that much conflict going on. The part about your parents could be interesting, but that doesn't seem like the main focus of your story. The premature thing is.. eh. You can't really write that much about being born premature in an autobiography because you obviously don't remember it. So your basing all of your info off of what your parents say, which isn't that emotionally intriguing. As for the itchiness/medicine part... that is reeeeally uninteresting. I mean, pretty much everybody is taking some sort of medicine... I myself have eczema severe enough that if I don't moisturize twice a day, my skin cracks open. And, besides the shots and pills, it doesn't seem like your condition affects your life that much, so it isn't really anything to base a story on.
As for the part about "philosophizing"... everybody does that. Everybody (or most people) wonders if there is a god, or if humans evolved, etc. etc. I'm not trying to make the fact that you do this any less important, but, once again, it's such a common thing that it isn't really enough to base a story on. Same with the linking things to other things bit. This is just how some brains are wired. It isn't all that unique, and it doesn't create enough conflict for a memoir/autobiography.
It seems to me that you simply don't have that much conflict going on in your life. The only bit of drama you describe is the racial problems you've encountered, which you only describe as hard, which makes me think it's no worse then a white guy growing up in a black neighborhood, or a hispanic guy growing up in a white neighborhood or whatever. Unless you've been bullied or abused in some way (which, I really hope you haven't!), it's just not enough to form the basis for a book.
Besides that, all the bad things that have happened in your life didn't really happen to you... they happened to your parents (moving to America... having very little money... having a premie baby...).
I know this sounds super b****y, but I'm just trying to put it all out there for you. I am certainly not saying you should give up on your dreams. But maybe spend some time working on developing your style. Maybe try writing other people's biographies? Or just write short stories about your life? But I just don't feel like you have the skill set required to write a full length book, and I don't think that, at 14, you have enough material from your life to make a full length intriguing autobiography.
Of course, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just a jerk who needs to shut up. Maybe you just didn't provide all the info I needed to see how awesome this book will be. I don't know. I can only judge based on the info I have been given. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do. | Why do Honest questions offend people? Why do a lot of people get offended when you ask a question reguarding black people? See, Some of you are already upset by that question...
Why is it ok to ask about any other culture?
One of my more recent questions was about Political correctness and how some words are deemed bad (N-word) and others are ok. (Honky, Spick, Chink, Dago, ect...)
Why is this? Why do people get so up in arms when you ask a question, an honest question? Not some TROLL question or something meant to start arguments.
Has this country gotten so uptight that we hold one group to a higher standard and block any questions that might make a person think and possably ask another question?
6 people that I know of flagged a question for open racism aginst an Irish girl. The question called her a Mic-Cracker. Making a joke about her being Irish and White. Mic is a racist remark for anyone of Irish decent.
So why is this ok? Yahoo seems to think it is. As proof I will now type a few racist terms below, Lets see which ones will get blocked out.
Honkey -White
****** -Black
Chink -Asian
Dago -Itallian
Mic -Irish
Spick -Mexican

Thanks for the answers, I'm giving all answers a thumbs up so you'll at least get 1 point. | I find this pretty interesting. I guess in today's society, anything "honest" regarding black people is just sort of viewed as being negative. Like as I'm typing, I feel bad for typing the words "black people" even. You brought up a good argument though. I mean sure, it's hard to block every racist comment but I think excluding some of the more obvious ones like "chink" and "spick" seem unfair. It's as if asking questions about every race is alright except for black.I believe all races are equal and one should not be more protected than another. Maybe some Irish people think that the word "mic" is as offensive as "******" is to a black person. My best theory is that because black people have been treated as the race at the bottom, it just seems offensive to mention anything regarding culture. Every other ethnicity I guess you could say like Asians and such have never been in that position and no special protection or caution is needed when asking questions regarding them. I'm sorry if this pretty much made you more confused. But I hope you do find a "best answer" somewhere.
Good luck! | Why do Honest questions about race offend people? First off let me tell you: I am a Biology major and Anthropology minor with a consentration in Prehistory Human Evolution. This is for a Anth class's extra point asignment over Christmas break. "To better understand the Human thought process on Taboo words."

Thanks for the answers, I'm giving all answers a thumbs up so you'll at least get 1 point. | Sometimes, one or another culture becomes suspect of all questions over the course of generations. The cultural memory becomes filled with examples of questions used to entrap, to deny justice.
I wonder if it is a "cultural defense mechanism". With some people, the question is not personal, its cultural. Meaning that you are questioning an entire culture with that one person standing in as the spokesperson. It puts them on the spot to defend the entire culture.
And the culture remembers the entrapment, the denial of justice.
It's all theory to me, I went to Technical College for eleven months. So I can't claim to really know any of this. | Why do some people get offended when you ask an honest question? ? Thanks for the answers, I'm giving all answers a thumbs up so you'll at least get 1 point. | | it's because when people ask questions about race, it links to tough histories etched in people's minds. everyone knows how blacks were treated for a long time. so they are sensitive to the fact that people use words with the intention of making them feel inferior and it brings them back to those days of slavery and segregation. even if they didn't live through it, they still know about it through history and stories etc. Im black, but I see it as something of the past that I can't dwell on. When I hear a person use the n word as a means of an insult, I pity them because they are ignorant and must not feel confident with themselves, so they use word like that to make themselves feel better |
